Sheffield Wednesday have received 28 yellow cards this season, good enough for 16th place in the Championship and they’ve only had one player sent-off, That has proven to be a bit of luck for manager Danny Rohl who is working with limited options in key areas.
That leaves Yan Valery and DiShon Bernard on a player tightrope — one yellow card away from suspension for the next match. Valery was cautioned in their most recent game against Sheffield United, taking his total for the season to four – one away from a suspension. Bernard, who was sent off earlier this season, is on the same boat.
The yellow card count is wiped after 19 games, so Valery and Bernard survive with one eye on the next four matches before a further booking would mean suspension. Elsewhere, Barry Bannan and Shea Charles are walking a disciplinary tightrope with three yellow cards each.
In the current campaign, Svante Ingelsson, Liam Palmer, Josh Windass, Dominic Iorfa and injured Akin Famewo are all on two yellow cards too. Sheffield Wednesday will face Cardiff City after the international break, hoping to nail down another three points and a place comfortably in the middle of the Championship table.
