Derby County has been reasonably good in the championship season so far, but they may require adding some players to secure their place in the championship for the next year.

Following their upward movement from League One the Rams are now out with an aim of avoiding relegation in the second half of the tournament. The January transfer window is thought to be the right time to make corrections in the team line up.

As for the Derby’s manager Paul warne, he stated that in January, they should focus on bringing in players to add more meat to their attack force. He believes that the club’s team could use another winger or a striker to complement Jerry Yates.

Of the players listed on the site, only Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith is mentioned by Woodward as a player Derby could target. He inspired from Smith experience, physical stature and how he would fit in well into the style of play that Yates deploys.

Warne has once named smith as a transfer target in prior windows, but at this time he is not an option for the club. But this may be reversed before the February 3 deadline.

January is significant for Derby County because the team is presently in the middle of the Championship table, and they have big plans.

While Derby has not necessarily been a struggling team since they got promoted back to the Championship, Derby is still only four points away for relegation which simply means they still have to fight for their safety this early in the season.

They need to spend in January as other teams have also been identified to be seeking to reinforce themselves.

However, even though Smith will be a valuable short-term addition to the team of Warne, everyone doubts that Derby can make such deal.
