Sunderland’s opponents in the Championship, Stoke City, have been given positive news on the injury front as they prepare for their festive programme. Stoke’s next fixtures will be against Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End, before the international break, then the Potters will meet Burnley and Sunderland on their own turf at Bet365 Stadium, and at the Stadium of Light respectively.

In an interview with Stoke sporting chief Jon Walters described the Bet365 stadium teams injury status before the games. Walters said that the controversies regarding Enda Stevens and Ashley Phillips would not be a real problem, while the return of Ben Pearson to the field might demand more time. The only bit of good news from last season is development of ex-Sunderland striker Lynden Gooch, and signs are that he might return to training soon. The injuries of Bosun and Sam Gallagher are also recovering well, and the two would love to return to the field without complications.

Gooch joined Stoke from Sunderland two summers back and was instrumental in the side getting the tape for Championship last season but recently he got a nasty jolt of suspected medial ligament injury.
