After leaving as a free agent two years ago, despite Blackburn rejecting bids for him in the previous January window, Rothwell was met with boos and colorful language as he took the field. The locals clearly did not fondly remember his exit from the team.
During the match, as Rothwell took corners in front of the fans, chants of “You’re just a —- Lewis Travis” filled the stadium. Despite the animosity, Rothwell continued to play on, facing the hostility with determination.
Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford and Lewis Baker, best friends from their time together at Chelsea, had the opportunity to catch up as substitutes on the sidelines at Ewood Park. The pair shared a moment before the game, reminiscing about their time at the youth team.
