Club desperately scrambling to negotiate groundbreaking deal with Celtic as Brendan Rodgers’ side holds all the power in final decision-making process.

On Wednesday, Globo Esporte reported that talks are underway between SC Internacional and Celtic regarding a potential deal for Alexandro Bernabei. The Brazilian club is considering signing the player permanently, with suggestions that Celtic may agree to further reduce his price following an initial drop from €10m to €5m.

In March, Celtic agreed to let the 24-year-old defender join Internacional on a loan deal until the end of the year. Bernabei’s performances during his time at the Brazilian club have impressed, leading to Internacional’s interest in securing his services beyond the loan spell.

Brazilian journalist JB Filho, as reported by SC Inter, has provided an update on the situation, indicating that Internacional is actively seeking to determine Bernabei’s future arrangement. As it stands, the fullback’s current contract with Celtic is set to run until 2027, with a transfer fee of €5m being requested by the Scottish club for his sale.

However, Internacional finds this asking price to be on the higher side and is exploring alternative options, including the possibility of negotiating a new loan deal for Bernabei. Ultimately, the decision on the player’s future rests with Celtic, and any potential agreement will depend on the outcome of discussions between the two clubs.

Should an agreement not be reached, Bernabei will be obligated to return to Celtic Park, as Celtic retains the final decision-making authority in determining the player’s next steps.
