According to The Scottish Sun, Rodgers personally wants to do a deal for Tierney, who came through the Celtic academy and played under Rodgers during his first spell at the club.
Tierney’s current contract with Arsenal is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and the Gunners have decided not to take up the option to extend his deal. This has led to speculation that Tierney could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium, with Celtic leading the race for his signature.
A return to Celtic could be just what Tierney needs to revive his career. The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries since joining Arsenal in 2019 and has not been able to replicate the form that made him a star at Celtic. Playing under Rodgers again and being back in familiar surroundings could help Tierney rediscover his best form.
Rodgers has always been a big fan of Tierney, and his comments about the player in the past have been glowing. In 2017, Rodgers praised Tierney’s performance in a game against Kilmarnock, saying: “He stepped into it really well and I knew as soon as he had his first touch that he was going to have a shot.”
