Siegrist was signed by former Celtic manager Neil Lennon for Rapid Bucharest, but his time in Romania was short-lived. After Lennon’s departure, Siegrist found himself relegated to the bench and has expressed his dissatisfaction with his lack of game time. Now, it appears that Siegrist is set to join Genoa as part of a swap deal, with Rapid bringing in Austrian goalkeeper Franz Stolz in exchange.
Siegrist will initially serve as backup to Genoa’s first-choice keeper Nicola Leali, but the move represents a fresh start for the goalkeeper. His time at Celtic was disappointing, with Siegrist failing to challenge Joe Hart for the No.1 jersey and eventually being pushed down the pecking order by the arrivals of Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo. Siegrist was eventually given permission to leave the club by manager Brendan Rodgers, and he will be hoping to revive his career in Italy.
