AdminPanthers back-row player Scott Sorensen is facing a potential second suspension this season after being charged with a hip drop tackle against Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.
The tackle, which took place in the 36th minute, has been categorized as a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact offense, resulting in a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea. If Sorensen contests the charge and is found guilty, the suspension will extend to three games.
In addition, Sorensen received a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge on Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad in the 67th minute, which will incur an $1800 fine if he pleads guilty early.
Nicoll-Klokstad is also facing a fine after being charged with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle on Thomas Jenkins. Should he plead guilty early, he will face a $1000 penalty, which raises to $1500 if he contests the charge and loses.
Knights winger James Schiller has incurred a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle charge on Oryn Keeley during Saturday’s match in Perth. As this constitutes his third offense, Keeley faces a fine of $3000 if he pleads guilty early, or a two-game suspension if he challenges the charge and is found guilty by the judiciary.
Rabbitohs forward Lachlan Hubner is facing an $1800 penalty for a Grade 1 Contrary Conduct charge, marking his second infraction of this kind.
Raiders players Hudson Young and Morgan Smithies, along with Wests Tigers winger Jeral Skelton, are also facing fines following Friday night’s match at Campbelltown.
Young has been charged with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact offense and will incur an $1800 fine if he pleads guilty early. The fine would increase to $2500 if he contests the charge and is unsuccessful.
Smithies is facing a $1500 fine for a Grade 1 Striking offense, while Skelton’s hair pull on Xavier Savage will result in a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea.
Meanwhile, NSW forward Jordan Uta has been referred directly to the NSWRL judiciary after being charged with a shoulder charge during Thursday’s State of Origin Under 19 match.
Uta was sent to the sin bin for his tackle on Samuel Hyne and has been given a Grade One charge.
The young player for the Raiders has participated in the club’s NSW Cup squad this season, and the NSWRL panel will now determine his future.
Westpac NSW Blues players Jarome Luai and Zac Lomax have admitted guilt to charges stemming from events during Wednesday night’s 26-24 Origin defeat in Perth.
Luai received a Grade 2 Contrary Conduct charge after dragging his hand across the face of Maroons second-rower Reuben Cotter in the 22nd minute of the game, accepting a fine of 13% of his $30,000 match fee ($3,900).
Lomax faced a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact charge for striking Maroons lock Trent Loiero with his forearm during a tackle in the 28th minute, resulting in a fine amounting to 7% of his match payment ($2,100).
