AdminThe condition of Adam Reynolds’ physique is deemed “critical” for the Broncos to consider extending their captain’s contract through the 2026 season and beyond, according to Broncos director Darren Lockyer.
Although Reynolds has yet to finalize a deal for next season, the seasoned halfback has expressed his desire to continue playing in the upcoming year and potentially for an additional two seasons.
Reports indicate that at least two competing Sydney teams are keeping an eye on his contract status, even though he prefers to remain at Red Hill.

Reynolds’ history of injuries is well-documented, with a long-standing knee issue being the primary factor for Souths allowing the championship-winning playmaker to depart in 2021.
During his initial three years with the Broncos, he participated in 56 out of a possible 81 matches. Throughout this period, he led Brisbane to the 2023 grand final, coming very close to securing the title.

If he opts to remain, it is likely he will be asked to accept a reduced salary.
An extension that would keep him with the Broncos for the next season would extend beyond his 36th birthday, the age at which club icon Allan Langer retired in 2002.
“I believe Adam’s physical condition is essential to this situation, so ideally he can maintain consistent performance on the field, and if he continues to contribute as he has been,” Lockyer stated during Wide World of Sports’ QLDER.
“There are various scenarios to consider, particularly regarding Ben Hunt’s future as Mam returns.
“Ezra might benefit from observing Ben and Adam for most of this year to gain experience.
“However, determining Adam’s future will likely need to wait until around mid-year. “

Reynolds now totals 2375 points and is on course to approach Bulldogs icon Hazem El Masri, who has 2418 points, this season.
Cameron Smith, an NRL Hall of Famer, holds the all-time record with 2786 points.
When questioned about his future with the Broncos, Reynolds maintained a balanced perspective.
“That will eventually take care of itself,” he remarked following the round three victory over the Cowboys.
“I’m enjoying my time here, I have an excellent team supporting me and the coaching staff is outstanding.
“As long as I continue to have fun playing football, I need to focus on doing my job. . . as long as I maintain that focus, the future will manage itself. “
