Cristian Romero issues clear response to Daniel Levy’s contract offer to make him Tottenham’s best-paid player

Cristian Romero’s name is poised to take center stage at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during this transfer window.

Romero is heavily linked with Atletico Madrid, who are eager to make the Argentine their premier acquisition this summer.

Nevertheless, Thomas Frank is intent on retaining Romero in North London, and the Lilywhites are doing everything possible to facilitate this.

As noted by TBR Football, Daniel Levy has proposed a substantial contract to Romero that would elevate him to the status of Tottenham Hotspur’s top earner, and the 27-year-old has now expressed his stance regarding the offer.

Cristian Romero expresses hesitance to sign a new contract with Tottenham
Romero has informed Tottenham and Levy that his wish to depart isn’t financially motivated; rather, it stems from a desire for new challenges in his career. TBR Football disclosed last month that Spurs were prepared to offer him a lucrative contract, but Romero’s ambitions are fixed on a transfer to Atletico Madrid.

According to Fernando Czyz, Romero reportedly conveyed to Levy: “It’s not a matter of finances but of professional growth. I cherish Tottenham, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. ” Levy has now resigned himself to the possibility of selling the World Cup champion this summer, although Atletico has yet to present a satisfactory bid. TBR Football maintains that the Spanish team has proposed £55 million for the defender, yet Levy is aiming for approximately £70 million.

Tottenham may now need to begin considering alternatives for the Argentine international, who clearly wishes to transition to the Metropolitano.

Castelo Lukeba could be the solution for Tottenham in place of Cristian Romero
According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham is among the clubs interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Castelo Lukeba.

Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Spurs are three clubs that have shown interest in the young French talent. The 22-year-old has a £78 million release clause with the German team; however, they are amenable to discussing a lower price.

Luka Vuskovic officially joined Tottenham this week after a two-year journey culminating in a £12 million transfer to the club.

The young Croatian international could provide a reliable option for Spurs as they seek to fill Romero’s void if he departs.

Additionally, Kota Takai is expected to arrive in London next week to finalize his transfer to the Lilywhites for a reported fee of £5 million.
