AdminAC Milan is considering a transfer for English defender Archie Brown, viewing him as a potential replacement for Theo Hernandez, who is heading to Al-Hilal.
WHAT HAPPENED?
A report from Calcio Mercato indicates that Milan, along with Gent, is in discussions with Brown’s representatives regarding a possible transfer for the 23-year-old full-back, currently under contract with the Jupiler Pro League team until 2027. The Rossoneri’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has identified three options to provide new manager Massimiliano Allegri with a strong left-back alternative following Hernandez’s departure, and Brown has emerged as a viable candidate.

Hernandez, the French left-back, has opted to join Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal, finalizing a three-year contract valued at €20 million ($23m/£17m) net per season, and is scheduled for medical examinations this Thursday. Consequently, to address the gap left by Hernandez, Milan is looking to acquire 23-year-old defender Brown.

Brown developed at English club Derby, steadily progressing to play for the Under 23 team. In 2021, he joined Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland as a free agent and moved to Jupiler Pro League club Gent in 2023. He has also been part of the England U20 setup, participating in two games and netting one goal. Last season, he made 46 appearances across competitions, contributing three goals and six assists for his Belgian team.
WHAT NEXT FOR MILAN?
Milan has commenced their pre-season training under Allegri’s leadership and will compete in four friendly matches against English teams Arsenal, Liverpool, Leeds United, and Chelsea, along with a fixture against Australian team Perth Glory, prior to their Coppa Italia first round encounter against Bari on 17 August.
