Suspicious incident in Collingwood leads to Recovery of

Authorities in Collingwood are probing a questionable occurrence that happened in a residential area.

Early Wednesday morning, just prior to 1 a.m., law enforcement responded to a report regarding an individual acting suspiciously while inspecting vehicles in the Lockhart subdivision of Collingwood.

According to officials, the individual was spotted exiting a Dodge Durango and examining a parked car with a flashlight before vacating the premises.

The officers located the man heading east on Stanley Street. Several OPP units from the Collingwood and Huronia West Detachments collaborated on patrols to locate the vehicle.

Police implemented a spike strip on Highway 26 close to Cullham Road, which successfully punctured the vehicle’s tires.

The man then fled the scene, prompting officers to organize a search in the vicinity. As of now, the suspect remains at large, and the investigation continues.

The vehicle in question, a 2023 Dodge Durango, was confirmed to be stolen from York Region. It has been secured for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The Community Street Crime Unit of the Collingwood OPP is now overseeing the case. Officers are currently canvassing the area for any available video surveillance.
